A tasty boost for restaurant

Wynyard Hall

Wynyard Hall

A RESTAURANT at a leading country house hotel has been awarded three AA rosettes.

Wynyard Hall has won the honour for its Wellington Restaurant where dishes are produced by executive head chef Alan O’Kane and his team.

The restaurant was awarded two rosettes shortly after his appointment in 2011 and now only 15 months later has achieved a third.

Alan said: “My team and I are thrilled to receive this esteemed award recognising all the hours we have put into experimenting with flavours and textures to ensure we create delicious and innovative dishes for our guests.”

A firm favourite with AA inspectors was the signature creation curry-scented Sea Bass with cauliflower bhaji Israeli couscous, golden sultanas and cumin velouté.

The third rosette for Wynyard Hall places it in the top 10 per cent in the country.

General manager Adam Dyke said: “I am delighted that the team have been recognised in this achievement, but we won’t stop at three, we will keep pushing to improve and achieve more.”

Wellington offers award winning food from afternoon tea to a seven-course tasting menu.

Mr Dyke added: “Wynyard are proud to say that in spite of the awards, all the dishes we offer are still at a price that people can afford, which is why our guests return time and time again.”

Wynyard Hall is a 19th Century Country House Hotel set in 150 acres of private parkland.

It boasts a large lake running alongside the house, sixteen bedrooms in the main hotel with three six-bedroom cottages in the grounds.
