Acclaimed phtographers inspire students as their work goes on display in Hartlepool

Four top photographers inspired students hoping to follow in their footsteps as they showcased their work to the professionals.

Cleveland College of Art and Design (CCAD) in Hartlepool welcomed the special visitors who reviewed students’ final year work as part of the end of year Vision Degree Show.

Mimi Mollica, a documentary photographer, Amit Lennon, who is an editorial/portrait photographer, picture editor Krishna Sheth, and Tim Clark, a curator and editor reviewed the portfolios of Level 6 Photography students.

Jill Cole, college photography lecturer said: “Mimi, Amit, Krishna and Tim are all high profile London-based professionals, so it was a great privilege to have them at CCAD.

“They will be excellent contacts for the students, the course and the college in the future.”

Mimi is an award-winning photographer, focusing on social issues, and has collaborated with publications including The Guardian Weekend magazine and Sunday Times Magazine.

Amit specialises in intimate and individualistic portraits, and includes subjects as diverse as prison reform and coal mining in the Arctic.

Krishna is currently the photography director for Illustrated London News Ltd, commissioning print and web content for a variety of its clients, including Aston Martin.

She also has more than 20 years’ experience of commissioning photography and was deputy photography director at the Telegraph Magazine for 17 years.

And Tim Clark is the editor in chief and director of 1000 Words, an online magazine dedicated to contemporary art photography.

His work has featured in The British Journal of Photography and The Telegraph.

He is also an experienced curator, having worked as Assistant Curator at London’s Media Space.

The college’s annual degree show exhibition is on now and rus until Saturday.

The public can see the work created by talented graduate students in costume, props and set design, photography, fashion, graphics, illustration, moving image, textiles and applied arts.
