BECKY’S Bell’s family supported other youngsters going through the devasating ordeal the youngster faced by making cash and gift donations yesterday.
Dedicated Julie and Mark Bell have raised around £15,000 for children’s cancer charity Clic Sargent and ward 14 at Newcastle’s RVI Hospital since the Rift House Primary School pupil passed away last year.
And yesterday Becky’s parents along with her older brother, Mark, 13, and sister, Vicki, 24, visited the ward where Becky was treated to hand over even more to the hospital and the charity.
A memorial evening organised last month to mark the first anniversary since Becky’s devastating death raised an impressive £3,000.
Half of that cash was spent on dozens of presents which can now be enjoyed by all of the youngsters at the hospital going through the ordeal that Becky faced.
The kindhearted family also handed over £1,400 to Clic Sargent. The money will be used to support seven youngsters who are battling cancer and will help to make sure they live their dream, like Becky did when she went on a trip to Disneyland Paris in 2011.
“It was really emotional going back to the ward and seeing all the different places where Becky was treated,” said Julie.
“But it was fantastic to be able to hand over the money to Clic and the presents to the hospital.
“£3,000 is a huge amount and that is all thanks to everyone who supported us and Becky at the brilliant memorial night.
“The support we have received since day one has been absolutely fantastic.”
Some of the money which was raised at the night has been put away for Julie and Mark to spend on even more presents for youngsters at the hospital.
And Julie didn’t rule out organising even more events in the future.
“We will look again in a few months time and we might organise another fundraiser,” she added.
