YOUNGSTERS are all set for the next step of their education after leaving nursery school earlier this month.

Kids from Kiddikins nursery, which is based in the Childrens’ Centre in Hindpool Close, went out in style when they reached the ened of term earlier this month.

Bosses at the nursery organise a Graduation Ceremony each year, kitting out the youngsters in gowns and caps to send them on their way to ‘big’ school.

Lisa Race, from Kiddikins, said the annual event always has the parents reaching for their hankies.

Lisa said: “This event marks the end of their nursery era, and it is all part of the transition for them to move into school.

“It is always an enjoyable event, and we invite the parents in for a performance where all of the kids sing some songs.

“It’s actually quite emotional, because we have had some of the children from being as young as six months old so we have really watched them develop.

“Throughout their time with us we take pictures which date right back to the day they started so it’s a story of their learning journey.

“We hand them over to the parents when they leave as a nice little keepsake and give them a framed photo of the children in their cap and gown..

“It’s a bit like This Is Your Life, and there are always a few tears.”

A total of nine youngsters from Kiddikins are now getting ready for the move into primary schools in September.
