WELL, wooden you believe it – it’s ready!

A bike made completely out of wood is now complete and will soon be making its way along Seaton Carew promenade to raise funds for Bradley Lowery.

Students on the Level 1 Diploma carpentry and joinery course at Hartlepool College of Further Education have spent the last few weeks making the bike, which is formed completely from plywood and timber.

Lecturer David Johnson said: “It looks absolutely spot-on and we have varnished all the cogs, which really helps the workings.

“It seems to be working fine, we haven’t done too much testing as we don’t want to demolish it before the actual event.”

The fundraising drive has received a boost from the town branch of Domino’s as its franchisee Mike Racz is a friend of Mr Johnson’s.

Domino’shas agreed to donate £1 from every pizza sold between now and February 5, the day before the bike ride, to Bradley Lowery’s Fight Against Neuroblastoma.

Mr Johnson said in the first day of pizza sales alone £120 was raised.

The bike will be ridden by students on Thursday, February 6, starting at the Newburn Bridge car park at noon and hopefully making it to the Longscar building.

Spectators can donate on the day.
