Bonny Baby 2012 champion
LITTLE cutie Cameron Smith is the Mail’s Bonny Baby 2012 champion.
Cameron, four, was one of hundreds of youngsters that had their photographs taken for our annual competition to find the bonniest of them all.
Today his proud mum, Mandy Rowley, 31, said: “I just can’t believe it. I’m thrilled. Everyone thinks that their child is the bonniest, but there were so many gorgeous kids that I never thought for a minute that Cameron would be voted the bonniest.”
There was so many terrific toddlers and beautiful babies – it was a mammoth task for judges to pick a top 12 in each age group category.
Then it was over to our readers to vote for their favourite in each group.
After more than 700 votes were cast by phone and text, Cameron won the 3-5 years age group, while Charlie Wood came out on top in the 18 month to 3 years category and Bobby Pounder took the honours in the 0-18 month age group.
The final was hotly contested – but it was Cameron who was crowned the bonniest of them all.
Cameron is no stranger to bonny baby competitions – and has twice come runner up in the Headland Carnival competition.
He has taken part in the Mail competition in each of his four years – but this year he is top of the tots.
Full-time mum Mandy said: “He has been asking every day about the competition since he saw himself in the paper. He has been showing all his friends and family his picture.”
Cameron, a pupil at Eldon Grove Primary School, lives with his mum and brothers, Kieran, 13, and Connor, nine, in Chester Road, Hartlepool. His dad, Robert, 37, a plumber, was also thrilled by Cameron’s win.
Cameron is due to celebrate his fifth birthday in three weeks, so had an early gift of a win with his canvas print worth £150 and a £100 Middleton Grange gift voucher.
Second place Charlie Wood gets a canvas print and a £50 voucher, while the family of Bobby Pounder receive a canvas print and a £30 voucher for third place.
