For local bookworms hoping to bag a bargain book, the museum will be holding a regular book sale on the first Saturday of each month, starting on Saturday, March 5.

In another boost, plucky Headland resident Georgia Barnes will be taking part in a hair-raising event at the museum on Saturday, March 19 at 2.30pm.

Wally added: “Georgia is raising money for Macmillan by having her head shaved. Come along and support Georgia and the charity.”

Easter will see a double attraction at the site on the Headland with a craft fair on Saturday, March 26, and a family fun day on Sunday, March 27.

Wally said: “The craft fair opens at 10am and will host a range of beautifully crafted items from local people – and if there are any crafters out there interested in having a stall at the fair there are still some available so book soon. Stalls cost £10.

“Easter Sunday will be see a full programme of egg-based activity, including an Easter egg hunt, egg and spoon races, egg decorating competition, and egg rolling
races. Children will be given one hard-boiled egg on entry to the museum, but there will be more available if the egg is broken during games.”

Activities for the younger generation will continue on Wednesday, April 6.

Wally explained: “We hope to hold the biggest Teddy Bear’s picnic in Hartlepool at the Heugh
Battery.
