Boy, 14, headbutted in ‘unprovoked attack’

A BOY aged just 14 was headbutted in a savage street attack.

Police say the youngster has been left with severe bruising and swelling to his left eye after the “seemingly unprovoked attack”.

He is said to have been stood in Linden Grove, Hartlepool, with three girls when a stranger approached them near to the junction with Grange Road.

He headbutted the boy in the face and knocked over one of the girls, who were all aged 14.

A Cleveland Police spokeswoman said: “An unknown man is believed to have walked up behind them and, in a seemingly unprovoked attack, headbutted the boy in the face.

“Prior to this attack, the man also pushed over one of the girls before heading off in the direction of Grange Road.”

The attack is said to have happened between 8.10pm and 8.20pm on Sunday, February 5.

The man is described as aged in his 30s, around 5ft 10in tall, of average build and with dark hair and stubble.

He was wearing a blue and white horizontally striped top and blue jeans.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact PC Dave Williamson, of Hartlepool Police, on (01429) 302110.
