Captain Splosh's 'drink water' message
A NEW super hero is spreading the message about the benefits of drinking water.
Brougham Primary School in Hartlepool had the honour of welcoming Captain Splosh (right). He taught pupils the importance of drinking water regularly throughout the day.
Captain Splosh is a life-sized mascot and is Hartlepool Water's secret weapon in its new Water for Health Campaign in schools across the town.
Improved concentration, calmer behaviour and increased energy levels are just some of the benefits of being well hydrated, say the experts.
Brougham head teacher Keith Storey said: "We were so excited about Captain Splosh coming to visit us.
"Healthy eating, nutrition and exercise are high on our agenda and we are really pleased that Hartlepool Water is helping us to reinforce this message and educate our children."
Hartlepool MP Iain Wright was also at the event and said: "With new nutritional standards in schools introduced in September last year, there has never been a more important time to work with our local water company and help schools provide free, fresh drinking water for children."
Tom Norman, from Hartlepool Water, said: "We are encouraging everyone to take a fresh look at water with this campaign and promoting the benefits of drinking tap water.''
