CARERS in Hartlepool helped get advice on how to claim benefits and access more support at a recent event.

To mark, the national Carers’ Rights Day, Hartlepool Carers, in Lowthian Road, hosted an event at the Best Western Grand Hotel which saw various organisations going along to show what support there is.

A spokeswoman for Hartlepool Carers, said: “This year’s Carers Rights Day was about getting carers the information and advice they need to claim benefits, access practical support and find out how technology can help take the pressure off.

“To mark Carers’ Rights Day, Hartlepool Carers hosted an event at the Best Western Grand Hotel, where various organisations attended to demonstrate and encourage carers to interact with technologies and gadgets which can make life easier for carers and those they care for.

“Other organisations were also on hand to provide advice and information on how to access services which can provide support to ease the pressure on carers.”

As a treat, a festive lunch was provided.

The invitation was open to any carer living in Hartlepool or the surrounding villages, regardless of whether they are in receipt of Carers Allowance or not.

There is an estimated 15,000 carers in Hartlepool.
