SICK scammers have been tricking people out of cash in the name of a cancer-battling toddler.

Two-year-old Bradley Lowery has neuroblastoma and is in intensive care at Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Infirmary undergoing chemotherapy.

The Blackhall tot’s parents, Gemma and Carl, are campaigning to raise £500,000 to send their son to America for treatment should he need it when he gets out of hospital.

But the fund-raising drive has been dealt a blow after it was revealed that bogus callers have been asking people in Wearside for money to help the youngster.

Bradley’s mum Gemma said: “It’s disgusting that people can play on the vulnerability of people with such an important cause.”

She added she has not given anyone permission to collect at doors, or written a letter it is said the man has shown to his victims.

Anyone with information on the con is asked to call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
