Charity's chips go down well with pet owners
AN animal charity has thanked pet owners for their patience during a chipping event which was so popular people had to be turned away.
Those who could not get their pets chipped at the RSPCA event, held at the Owton Manor Community Centre, in Hartlepool last week, were given free microchip vouchers instead.
Lisa Hogg, co-ordinator of the Hartlepool, Sunderland and South Tyneside branches of the RSPCA, said: "We micro-chipped 112 animals including dogs, cats, rabbits and ferrets.
"We issued 25 microchipping vouchers as we didn't have time to see everybody.
"The turn out was really good and we wanted to thank everybody for being so patient and for the phenomenal turnout.
"I think people are now very aware of the benefits of microchipping.
"It's a permanent way for pets to be reunited with their owners should they ever go missing."
The next event takes place in Hartlepool on Wednesday, February 24. next year.
