Christmas comes early in Elwick

CHRISTMAS came early in Elwick with a magical day of festivities.

The village was packed as people turned out in force to enjoy the Elwick Christmas Market Spectacular.

Festive lights beamed around the village after a grand switch-on while children enjoyed the chance to meet Santa in his grotto set up in the McOrville Inn.

A mini-steam train spent the day circling the village, to the delight of youngsters, while adults had their hands full with dozens of stalls in a marquee set up on the village green.

The event, which was the first of its kind in the village, was organised by the Friends of Elwick group and all of the money raised will be handed to St Peter’s Elwick CE Primary School.
