Thursday, December 10: Eastern Europe, the USA, Canada and Japan.

Friday, December 11: Airmail items to Western Europe.

Friday, December 18: Second Class mail

Monday, December 21: First Class mail

Wednesday, December 23: Special Delivery items

Royal Mail's regional operations director Alison Wright

said: "Christmas is the busiest and best time of year for Royal Mail and all our people are determined to deliver an absolutely first class service to our customers in Teesside and County Durham.

"Our Christmas operation is massive and it really helps us if people post their cards and parcels as early as possible and always remember to use the postcode.

"Our customers can then rely on Royal Mail to do the rest and to help make their Christmas special."
