A CHARITY bungee jump has been postponed due to extreme weather conditions forecast for this weekend.

The daredevil feat was due to take place at Harry’s Bar, in Hartlepool Street, Thornley, this Saturday, but has been put back to a later date for safety reasons.

The Mail reported in January that at least 50 people were needed in order for the jump to take place, in aid of the Breast Cancer Care Charity.

But the event has been put back until Saturday, September 14.

The event, brought to the pub by Barnard Castle-based Extreme Sensation Bungee, will see daredevils jumping from a height of 175ft.

The postponed event is being organised by pub regular Paula Million, who lives in Wheatley Hill, and pub landlord Stephen Dowding.

Paula said: “Due to extreme weather conditions forecast this weekend the bungee jump will now be postponed to Saturday, September 14, at Harrys Bar.

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused but look forward to hopefully having better weather later in the year to do the jump.”

Anyone wanting to find out information about the event can contact Extreme Sensation Bungee on (01833) 627666.
