SLIDESHOW: Arts academy promises to Shine Bright

HERE is a chance to see some of the performers who are setting a stage alight with their latest show.

Youngsters from a Hartlepool performing arts academy are getting ready to put on a dazzling show for audiences.

Members of the town’s Debbie Barrass Academy of Dance have been rehearsing hard for Shine Bright Like a Star which starts tonight.

The annual production at Hartlepool Town Hall Theatre in Raby Road features a wide variety of performances.

They include an acrobatic take on the smash sci-fi film Avatar, a performance from Jesus Christ Superstar, and renditions of modern pop stars such as Beyonce and Little Mix.

Academy founder Debbie Barrass said: “It is a full variety show. There is something for absolutely everybody across the board. There is something for all ages.”

A cast of between 80 and 100 performers will take to the stage and performers range from 18 months to young adults.

Debbie’s son, singer Sam Barrass, will also star in the show singing songs from his album.

Shine Bright Like a Star starts tonight and runs until Saturday, beginning at 6.45pm.

There is also a matinee at 2pm on Saturday.

Tickets are £9.50 for adults and £8.50 for concessions available from the theatre box office on (01429) 890000.
