An application has been made for permission to build on land at Nelson Lane behind the Clavering estate.
It seeks approval in principle for 50 two-storey homes but a number of objections have been made.

“Details of house type design has not been submitted however the layout shows a mix of detached and semi detached dwellings, each having amenity space to the front and rear with in curtilage car parking. The applicant is proposing to provide affordable housing within the site. The final details of house type will be considered as part of a subsequent reserved matter application.”
Opponents to the scheme refer to increased traffic on existing roads, flooding fears, insufficient car parking impacting people’s safety and the loss of countryside.
Council officers are recommending the application be approved and seek developer contributions totalling some £215,000 towards education, plus play, sport and green amenities.
