Court hears woman's rape claim interview

AN interview in which a woman claimed she had been raped numerous times was played in court yesterday.

The woman, who cannot be identified, claimed she was sexually assaulted by Ian Coull in the video.

Coull, 32, is charged with four counts of rape against the alleged victim and is standing trial at Teesside Crown Court.

He also faces four further rape allegations against two other women, and a sexual assault against a fourth woman.

The first alleged victim yesterday described Coull as a "sexual predator."

She said: "He just did what he wanted to do."

And in a video played to the jury she claimed she was raped on one occasion in a hotel after going out the previous night.

She said: "I woke up in a totally empty room. My knickers were on the floor snapped. My dress was right up.

"I was devastated. I knew I had been raped.

"It was the worst thing that ever happened to me, that trip."

Under cross-examination by Nicholas Atkinson QC the victim admitted taking drugs and drinking a lot around the time of the alleged attacks.

But she denied being so "out of it" that she was not aware of what was going on.

Coull, of Moffat Road, Hartlepool, denies all of the allegations which

span a five-year period.

The trial is due to continue today.
