Crash driver escapes unhurt

A MOTORIST managed to avoid injuries after her car smashed into railings off a main road.

Traffic heading into the town centre area was affected for a short time after the crash in Marina Way, Hartlepool, at around 2pm today.

Police stopped at the scene after coming across the silver Renault Clio on the side of the road shortly after the smash.

Fortunately the female driver didn’t suffer any injuries but the car was left badly damaged.

The road wasn’t closed but one lane was blocked while the car was recovered.

A Cleveland Police spokeswoman said: “Officers attended the scene after a crash in Marina Way, Hartlepool, at around 2pm on Monday.

“The vehicle was damaged but fortunately nobody suffered any injuries.”
