A MOTORIST was rushed to hospital with head and neck injuries after a crash in Seaton Carew.
The driver of a Renault Megane, collided with a brick signpost on the way into Seaton just after 9am on Saturday, January 26.
All three emergency services attended the scene of the incident at the junction of Tees Road and Elizabeth Way.
Firefighters cut the roof off the car so he could be put on a spinal board.
The man, believed to be aged 63, was taken to the University Hospital of North Tees, in Stockton, by ambulance.
The road was closed while police carried out investigations at the scene but reopened later.
Crew manager Mike Smith, of Stranton Fire Station, said: “It doesn’t look like any other vehicle was involved.
“He had injuries to his head and the paramedics wanted him to be put on a spinal board so we cut the roof off.”
The Great North Air Ambulance was requested but later stood down.
A spokesman for the North East Ambulance Service said: “We activated the air ambulance as a precaution but it was stood down.
“He had sustained head and neck injuries.”
