Dry spell to end for Hartlepool and East Durham

THE warm, sunny weather enjoyed recently by Hartlepool and East Durham is to gradually come to an end this week.

The region is expected to be remain mostly dry on Monday, with sunny spells at times, but scattered showers are likely later in the day.

Some rainfall is forecast to be heavy in places and there is a risk of thunder and lightning.

Met Office predictors expect temperatures to still hit 20C on Monday and around 11C at night before dropping away as the week goes on.

Wetter conditions are expected by Thursday when temperatures could be as low as 14C.

A Met Office spokesman said: “It will be cloudier and cooler with the odd shower on Tuesday.

“It will be mainly dry on Wednesday but increasingly unsettled by Thursday with rain or showers at times.”

The long-term forecast is for drier and warmer conditions to return.
