Face of skull found in sea
FORENSIC experts have digitally reconstructed the facial features of a skull that was trawled up by a fishing boat.
The grim discovery was made 10 miles north east of Hartlepool last February and police have spent 17 months trying to identify it.
It was found by the Christina fishing boat and taken into Whitby harbour and handed over to North Yorkshire Police.
Police hope someone may recognise the man from the digital images.
He is believed to have been of north-west European ancestry and missing person checks have failed to identify him.
Police believe he died between the age of 20 and 50 and had been in the water for a minimum of two to three years, but could have been in the water for a number of decades.
Inspector Tony Quinn, of Scarborough Police, said: "A distinctive feature of the man's teeth is that he was missing his left front tooth."
Anyone who may know the man should contact police on 0345 6060365.
