OCCASIONS FAIR: Chantelle Kenny (left) and Samantha Hinchcliffe at their Greatham wedding shop.

A NEWLY opened village wedding shop is holding an occasions fair next month to raise cash to replace a community centre roof.

The owners of My Wedding Belle, in Greatham, say they have been welcomed with open arms by residents in the village since they opened the shop in September last year.

Now they are planning to show their thanks with the event next month that will raise cash for a new roof at Greatham Community Centre.

The fair, for occasions including weddings, birthdays, Valentine’s Day and more will be held in the centre, and every single penny raised will be put towards the fundraising drive to buy a much-needed new roof for the community facility.

Samantha Hinchcliffe, 27, who runs the shop alongside Chantelle Kenny, 25, said: “The community centre is the heart of the community and a lot of people have gone out of their way to help raise money for a new roof.

“We have been invited by the community to a number of events to help raise funds so we thought we would organise our own.

“It’s also a chance for us to meet lots of new people and find out a bit more about them and the village.”

The event will be held on Saturday, February 9, from 11am-3pm and again from 5pm-8pm.

Samantha and Chantelle are inviting people along to advertise their own occasion-wear or sell craftwork or other items.

Florists, DJs and photographers will also be attending.

People can book a table for one of the sessions for £10 or book a table for the full day for £15.

Samantha, who lives in the Clavering area of Hartlepool, added: “I don’t know exactly how much has to be raised for the new roof, but I know it’s a lot of money.

“Anything we can make to help reach that total will be fantastic.”

For more information about the event call the shop on (01429) 871871.
