Fifth London train for Hartlepool
FIFTH SERVICE: Hartlepool is set for an extra daily service to and from London
RAIL bosses have been given permission to run a fifth daily return train service between Hartlepool and London.
Grand Central currently runs four trains between the town and London King’s Cross from Monday to Saturday.
Bosses said the current five-hour gap in its timetable during the afternoon meant the firm was missing out on passengers.
Grand Central’s managing director Richard McClean said it will help create a “better balanced” timetable and make best use of the fleet.
Negotiations with Network Rail to finalise the new timetable have now begun and Grand Central hopes to launch the service by December 12.
