Fire crews called to ‘peas’ incident

FIREFIGHTERS were called to a pensioner’s home after a pan of peas burned dry on a cooker.

One engine from Stranton Fire Station went to the home at Priory Court sheltered accommodation, on the Headland, in Hartlepool, at 1pm yesterday.

The incident created a lot of smoke, but when crews arrived at the house the pan had been removed from the hob and the firefighters helped to ventilate the property.

They left the scene 20 minutes later.
