Fishing rod offensive weapon charge
A FISHERMAN has appeared in court charged with having an offensive weapon – a fishing rod.
John Wallace, of Southgate, on Hartlepool's Headland, appeared before Hartlepool Magistrates' Court.
The 46-year-old is accused of having an offensive weapon in a public place, namely a fishing rod near the Borough Hall, on the Headland.
He has not yet formally entered a plea to the offence, which is said to have taken place on May 9 during a fracas.
Chairman of the bench Lynn Gibson adjourned the case until November 8 and released Wallace on unconditional bail.
