GRUB lovers had a flippin’ great time making pancakes and raising charity cash.

The Rotary Club of Hartlepool held two Pancake Day events at Place In The Park, Ward Jackson Park, Hartlepool, and at The Grand Hotel, Swainson Street, yesterday.

And as well as cooking up yummy pancakes the charitable group also raised essential funds for MacMillan Cancer Support and other local good causes.

Maria Harrison, director of Place in the Park, said: “From starting at 10am we literally didn’t stop flipping pancakes.

“It went absolutely fantastically and it was really nice to see people coming out and giving their donation for a pancake and a cuppa.

“It’s great for us because we did something for the community and it’s great for the Rotary Club to be raising money for such a worthy cause.

“They have given up their time and have been run off their feet and all in the name of charity. It’s brilliant.”

Both venues agreed to offer freshly-made pancakes with a coffee, tea or soft drink for £3 between 10am and 3pm, with all the profits going into the charity pot.
