Football coaching courses

FOOTBALL players who are keen to develop their coaching skills are being invited to sign up for a course.

Hartlepool Borough Council’s sport and recreation service has teamed up with Durham County FA to stage the FA Level 1 Award in Coaching Football course.

It is open to both males and females over the age of 16 and will take place at Grayfields pavilion, in Jesmond Gardens, from April 17-May 15.

It will comprise of nine three-hour sessions and during the course candidates will learn how to:

l Safely organise and supervise a range of football activities;

l Promote and establish working relationships and high standards between players, coaches, parents and officials;

l Understand the different aspects of coaching children;

l Identify and adapt football activities for a variety of age groups;

l Identify personal development opportunities in football, including administration and officiating.

Candidates will also attend both FA Emergency Aid and FA Safeguarding Children workshops as part of the course and they will receive a certificate of attendance for each.

The course costs £120, although FA Charter Standard clubs that are affiliated to Durham County FA can access it for just £50. Applications from FA Charter Standard clubs must be co-signed by the club secretary.
