DISABLED football supporters look set to benefit when signed football shirts go under the hammer.

Hartlepool United Disabled Supporters’ Association (HUDSA) has these framed and signed Michael Owen Liverpool and Michael Owen England tops and a Liverpool squad football – which they plan to auction to raise funds for the association.

HUDSA committee member Ron Harnish got the shirts from Lewis Price, a 23-year-old Conference League referee and nephew of Ron’s Hartlepool friends John and Carol Purdy, who has no room for them in his new home in Exeter.

Ron said: “It was nice of John and Carol to think of HUDSA and it’s fantastic the way people rally round.”

HUDSA chairman Neil Appleyard said: “These are signed, authenticated shirts.

“It’s unbelievable and absolutely fantastic that somebody thinks of us in these times and would donate them to our group.”

He said HUDSA may host some sort of end-of-season party and have an auction as part of that.

Neil added that HUDSA, which has around 90 members, is always in need of funds for its many activities and the upkeep of its minibus and respite caravan.

HUDSA also has other donated memorabilia, which includes a signed Everton football.
