HARTLEPOOL and East Durham will be hit by gales this weekend, according to weather experts.
The Met Office is forecasting strong winds across the North East on Sunday and overnight into Monday morning.
A Met Office spokesman said: “Gales are likely to develop around exposed coastal areas of northern Britain.
“Very strong inland gusts are also expected, particularly in association with heavy showers.
“The public should be aware of possible minor disruption, particularly to transport.”
Saturday is expected to see some bright spells but with the risk of the odd shower.
Temperatures should stay in the mid-teens throughout most of the weekend before dropping when the strong winds arrive on Sunday afternoon.
