MEN can enjoy “fellowship, friendship and good fun” as Hartlepool Round Table looks to welcome new members.
The current membership figure of 18 stands the town’s Round Table in good stead compared with other branches.
But chairman Allan Wise said the group is always on the look-out to welcome new members from the town, aged between 18 and 45.
Allan, 44, who lives in Telford Close, in the town, said: “We are always on the look-out to bring in fresh blood, that’s our ethos, to keep it young, fresh and interesting.
“We try to emphasise the fun aspect. If people enjoy coming along then they are more likely to want to contribute to the other things we do.”
Those other things involve raising thousands of pounds for local charities.
The Hartlepool Round Table organised the recent Boxing Day dip for the first time, hailing it a “huge success” and helping to raise cash for various causes. And the ever-popular beer festival, held at the Borough Hall, on the Headland, raised £10,000 last year, split between five charities.
Allan, who works as an environmental health and safety officer at Huntsman Tioxide, added: “We like to welcome possible new members along to our social events so they can see what we are about and how they will enjoy being part of the Round Table.
“Hartlepool has a strong Round Table, we have been for about four or five years now, and we have a really good mix of people.
“But obviously it’s always fantastic to welcome new members along.
“The camaraderie between Tablers is excellent and I like to think people can see and feel that straight away.”
