A TALENTED singer and songwriter has made it through to the final of a talent competition.
Hartlepool musician Kate Williams has won herself a place in the final of TFM Radio’s The Big Audition after beating off stiff competition from 18 other entrants to impress judges at a private semi-final round.
The 23-year-old, who works at Eden Estates, in York Road, was asked a series of questions about her as a person and as an artist at the TFM headquarters in Thornaby on March 21, before performing a live audition.
The following day, delighted Kate, of Grange Road, was told that she was one of 12 competitors through to the final, which will be held at The Arc, in Stockton, on April 12.
Today, Kate, a former Hartlepool Sixth Form College pupil who also volunteers as a vocal coach at the Red Dreams Charity, in Hartlepool, said: “It’s a brilliant opportunity and I’m really excited. There’s lots of really good talent in the final so it’s quite nerve-wracking but exciting at the same time.
“I’ve always been singing and wanted to be a singer ever since I was a little girl.
“I’ve done lots of different kinds of music but I really like pop, folk and rock and I do my own stuff as well.”
If Kate wins the contest she will scoop herself a performance slot at TFM Radio Live, on Friday, November 29, at the Metro Radio Arena, in Newcastle, a makeover, two days studio recording time with a producer at The Pod, in Stockton, and a professional photo shoot.
The winner and two runners-up will also perform at Wellington Square Shopping Centre, in Stockton.
Judges will choose the finalist with the best performance, but also the person who has raised the most money for the Cash For Kids charity by selling 40 tickets to the final within a two-week period, and also at least £600 from other fundraising activities.
