HARTLEPOOL hit national television screens after football stars were filmed by a Sky camera crew working with an employability charity.
Soccer AM, which is shown on Sky One and Sky Sports One, filmed a programme in the town with Hartlepool United midfielders Matty Dolan and Jonathan Franks, and Middlesbrough’s Kei Kamara.
In the show, the trio gave their backing to national charity Street League – which is running an eight-week project at the Belle Vue Community Centre, in Kendal Road, using football to help young jobless people back into work.
Soccer AM filmed a class at the community centre and football sessions at the Sports Domes, at Seaton Carew, and it was aired on telly on Saturday morning.
The Street League Academy helps young people develop key life skills such as communication, teamwork and goal-setting.
Participants get help with CVs, interview techniques and earn nationally-recognised qualifications.
Soccer AM has been supporting Street League by donating proceeds from the sale of its T-shirts.
Last season £17,704 was raised nationally, and some of the cash has helped to fund the latest course in Hartlepool.
The Street League feature will be shown on Soccer AM in early December.
The Street League scheme is open to anyone aged 16 to 25-years-old who is not in employment.
