HARTLEPOOL’S lifeboat service was called into action to rescue two fishing boats that had suffered engine failure.

The all weather lifeboat was launched at around 3pm on Thursday to the vessels that were stranded in Tees Bay.

One of the fishing boats had intended to tow the other 26ft boat after it broke down.

But it suffered engine failure as well and the RNLI towed both back to safety at Kafiga Landings on the Headland at Hartlepool.
