Hartlepool regeneration scheme is a sell-out success

The last 10 homes being built on the site have all now been reserved at Keepmoat’s Alexandra Square development off Raby Road, and the final residents will pick up their keys in the coming months.

The project, which began almost nine years ago, has seen 74 new homes built on the site following the demolition of 199 older terraced properties in Raby Road and Turnbull Street and the now-disappeared Perth Street, Hurworth Street, Grainger Street, and Gray Street.

The old Rovers Quoit Club was also knocked down and re-located to the extensively refurbished former Iona Social Club in Easington Road with assistance from Hartlepool Council.

The £7million community-led regeneration scheme, part of the North Central Hartlepool Masterplan, is a partnership between Keepmoat, Hartlepool Council, Endeavour Housing and the Government’s Homes and Communities Agency.

Councillor Christopher Akers-Belcher, the Leader of Hartlepool Council, said: “The regeneration scheme, allied to others in the area, is a huge boost for this part of north Hartlepool and the town as a whole.”

The new homes are a mixture of two, three and four-bedroom properties.
