RESIDENTS can have a say on helping to draw up a new regeneration blueprint for Hartlepool.
Hartlepool Borough Council is behind the ambitious Regeneration Masterplan which forms part of the Hartlepool Vision and officials hope it revitalises the centre of Hartlepool, sparks the town’s wider regeneration and lays the foundations for its future prosperity.
GVA beat off competition to land the key role in helping the council deliver the Masterplan which covers a number of key development sites including the town’s marina and waterfront areas.
On Monday, August 4 residents will be able to find out more at two consultation drop-in events taking place in the town:
• Central Square, Middleton Grange Shopping Centre between 11am to 5pm;
• Hartlepool’s Maritime Experience between 6pm to 8pm.
The drop-in sessions form part of an extensive consultation exercise over the next couple of months which will also includes businesses, land owners, developers and other key groups.
Councillor Christopher Akers-Belcher, council leader, said: “It is vitally important that local residents take the opportunity to participate in the consultation as this is their chance to shape the future of their town.”
Feedback from the drop-in sessions and questionnaire will also help inform the Hartlepool Local Plan which the council is currently drawing up.
Richard Newsome, an associate in GVA’s Newcastle office, said: “The drop-in sessions give everyone in the town an opportunity to get involved and air their views on how they think the marina and surrounding area should be developed over the next 20 years.”
Consultation will continue over the summer.
