Heavy traffic on A19

COMMUTERS are experiencing delays on the way to work this morning due to heavy traffic.

Drivers using the A19 southbound between Elwick and Portrack Interchange are facing delays of more than 30 minutes as a result of queuing and heavier than usual traffic.

As a result, vehicles are also queueing on the A689 heading out of Hartlepool at Wolviston.

Heavy winds has also made driving conditions difficult.

A spokeswoman for Cleveland Police said there had been no reports of any accidents but said traffic had been at a standstill at Haverton Hill at around 8.30am today which had caused traffic to back up onto the A19.
