Hooded gang attack man walking dogs

A GANG of 10 hooded thugs surrounded a man out walking his dogs and launched a vicious unprovoked attack.

Hartlepool man Wilfy Hall, 32, was left with a gash to his head and a badly bruised right eye, after the yobs punched, kicked and hit him with a stick.

The attack started on the field behind Golden Flatts School, on Seaton Lane, and did not cease until Wilfy got to the road near Fitness First.

"They just surrounded me and I knew they were going to do something," said Wilfy, of Seaton Lane.

"The first one punched me in the face and I just saw stars. The others were punching and kicking me while I was trying to get away, and then one of them hit me with a stick."

The gang was a mixture of boys and girls from the age in their early teens up to about 20.

Wilfy, a former pupil at Manor School, said: "I was walking along and two of them shouted my name but I just kept walking.

He said: "I walked a bit further and then they all started coming from everywhere, then they surrounded me. They all had sticks.

"They tried to get me on the floor, but I tried to fight my way home because my head was pouring with blood."

He added: "At first they were shouting 'give him it', but then towards the end I heard one say 'stop it he's had enough now'.

"My heads killing today, my neck's hurting, I feel like I've been through 10 rounds with Tyson."

Wilfy needed treatment at the University Hospital of Hartlepool, and had the one inch gash to the back of his head glued up.

Wilfy's mother Elsie Hall, 60, a mother-of-four, said: "They're animals. My son walked through that door with blood pouring from his head and he couldn't even talk. I want something done about this."

Cleveland Police said they have now launched an investigation into the incident that took place around 8.30pm on Tuesday night.

A police spokeswoman said: "There's no descriptions of the youths and the victim is not sure how many of the gang were girls and how many were boys. There are no ages.''

Anyone who witnessed the incident, or has any information about the youths responsible, is asked to contact Pc John Tyson at Hartlepool Police, on (01642) 302126.
