Horses escape from field

TEA-TIME commuters faced disruption after a pair of horses escaped from a field and were spotted running down a busy main road.

A section of the A179 Hart Road, between Hart village and the Tall Ships pub, in Hartlepool, was closed while the horses were rounded up and put back in the field.

Police were called after reports from motorists that the horses, which had come from a nearby field, were in the middle of the road and running along the embankment.

A spokeswoman for Cleveland Police said nobody was injured in the incident.

The incident happened at 5.15pm on Tuesday and the road was closed for around half an hour.
