I got a £500 TV for just 8p!

A FAMILY are glued to the set after landing a top-of-the-range telly – for the princely sum of just 8p!

Glenn Menzies read about the chance to win a 32-inch Sony Bravia television in the Mail's reverse auction competition and thought he would try his luck.

The competition invited bids, with the lowest unique bid snapping up the prize.

And the 31-year old was ecstatic after finding out his final bid of just 8p was victorious.

Glenn, who lives in Owton Manor, Hartlepool, with his partner, Louise Pattison, 28, and three children Amyleigh, nine, Melissa-Lynn, six, and five year old Nicole, said: "I couldn't believe it when I found out I had won.

"My first bid was 22 pence but I got a text saying that that had been beaten so we put a final bid in of eight pence.

"But then I broke my mobile phone, so I found out by letter I had won. I am absolutely over the moon."

Glenn, who is currently unemployed, added: "I always used to put the lottery on but never had any luck so about 18 months ago I decided I would start entering competitions.

"I have never had any luck in them either – until now. I just kept thinking I have won a 500 television for the price of a text message.

"We needed to buy a new television anyway, so this has saved me a lot of money.

"The children couldn't believe it, they were so happy,

"I'm just glad I started entering competitions.

"And this is certainly the best eight pence I've ever spent!"
