AN inquest was due to open today into the death of a Hartlepool man whose body was found at a beauty spot.
Town man Alan Whitehead, 61, was found near the viaduct at Crimdon Dene on Sunday.
Emergency services rushed to the beauty spot on Sunday evening after receiving reports of a man’s body being discovered.
Police have confirmed there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding Mr Whitehead’s death and have passed a file on to the coroner.
An inquest into the death was due to be opened this morning by Durham Coroner Andrew Tweddle at his office in Crook Civic Centre.
A Durham Constabulary spokeswoman said: “Police were called to Crimdon Dene Holiday Park at 8.45pm on Sunday, June 15 following reports of man’s body near to the viaduct.
“There is not believed to be any suspicious circumstances and a report has been prepared for the coroner.”
