It’s Oscars season for youngsters
Children and staff at Oscars
AN action-packed week of half-term fun is in store for youngsters at a Hartlepool after-school and holiday club.
Oscars, based at West Hartlepool Rugby Club, has laid on a host of activities to prevent children being bored during the upcoming school holidays.
The week is set to include everything from arts and crafts to trips to the cinema and a local nature reserve.
The council-run scheme, for children aged three to 16, was recently given a top “outstanding” rating by Ofsted inspectors.
During half-term, which is from Monday, February 18 to 22, parents can drop off their children at Oscars in Catcote Road, from 8am when they will be given breakfast.
They will then embark on an action-packed day of fun and thrills before being collected by parents by 5.45pm.
Sandra Robinson, the council’s out of school co-ordinator, said: “The team have put together an excellent, varied programme of activities for half-term week and children are promised a great time.
“As a parent myself I know how difficult it can be to juggle working and looking after the children and hopefully Oscars can make things easier for parents.
“Children have a great time with us and parents can relax knowing that their children are in safe hands.”
Oscars may also open on Friday, February 15, if there is demand from parents as many schools are closed that day.
Monday will be spent doing arts and crafts in the morning and sports and games in the afternoon.
Other activities during the week include an Italian themed day, a visit to Summerhill and a trip to the cinema.
Oscars’ new venue at the rugby club is ideal for children with excellent indoor facilities and a large grass for outdoor activities.
It also runs an after school service with children picked up from school collected by parents before 6pm.
