NEW figures show Hartlepool has the third highest proportion of long-term jobless benefit claimants in the country with people who have been languishing on the dole queue for more than five years.
Yet such is the determination of jobless people to find work that around 2,500 applied for 150 vacancies when the the town’s Range home, garden and leisure store opened last year.
