A SCHOOLGIRL is splashing the cash with a £3,000 donation to charity – all raised by herself in sponsorship for this year’s Boxing Day dip.
Barnard Grove Primary School pupil Jasmin Mitchell only turned 10 on Friday and had never braved the icy waters for the dip before.
But after signing up this year and vowing to support the Cystic Fibrosis Trust in support of her two-year-old cousin, Hannah Nelson, who suffers with the condition, Jasmin went on a sponsorship drive – and made sure all of her relatives helped to rack up the cash.
And by the time Jasmin plunged into the freezing water on Thursday morning, she had already raised a whopping £3,000-plus for the charity.
Jasmin, from West View, said: “I started fundraising and was doing well and got to £1,000 quite quickly and I just kept going.
“I got all of my family to take my sponsorship form into their work and just tried to get as many people sponsoring me as I could.”
Her proud mum Nikki Sanderson, 36, a mum-of-four, said: “Jasmin’s done so well.
“She’s just pushed so much for people to sponsor her. I’m very proud. I have a feeling she might do the dip again next year now.”
