Job joy at last for dedicated Robert

FOR dedicated former jobseeker Robert Graham, the hard work paid off when he finally landed himself paid work.

Robert was referred to the Government’s Work Programme with Triage in January last year and immediately made it clear that he was willing to work voluntarily to help in his search for work.

Despite hoping for work in retail and customer service, he signed up for a training course incorporating Level 1 catering and hospitality and a food hygiene certificate.

And as the course approached its final days, Robert, who lives in West View, spotted a job at The Pantry, in Mulgrave Road.

The interview went well and he was handed a trial to give him an idea of how the job worked.

And he clearly impressed as he was offered the role and started in January.

Lucy Fox, performance manager at Triage, said: “Robert is thoroughly enjoying his new career and hopes to be in long term employment with The Pantry going forward.

“We will continue to support Robert in work at Triage.

“But we know from the last two months that his job is progressing well and he will continue to be a success.”

Lucy said Robert’s willingness to take on the voluntary courses helped him enormously in finding work.

She added: “As Robert had no previous employment history, he was finding it difficult to get the required response from employers.

“He was a vital part of the training group and was instantly well liked.”
