A YOUNG Hartlepool band are hoping to find a new army of fans after announcing their first UK tour.

Town group Arcs and Trauma are hitting the road next month to get their music out to a wider audience.

The band is made up of Jon Gibson and James Hewitson, both 19, and 18-year-old Jake Hopkins.

The whistle-stop tour will take in major cities such as London, Newcastle and Nottingham.

Guitarist Jon said: “It is all our own material that we are putting out.

“Since Jake joined us recently as our new drummer we have gained a lot more initiative .

“We have never been able to sort out a tour before, but we started talking to other bands who told us how to go about it.

“We looked for relative promoters for our style and went for it.”

Arcs and Trauma have been performing locally under various different names for around five years.

They describe their style of music as ‘indie prog-rock’.

Confirmed dates so far include Bunkers Hill, Nottingham, on Saturday February, 16; The Old Blue Last, Shoreditch, London, on Monday 18; The Croft, Bristol, on Tuesday 19; Zephyr, Huddersfield, on Wednesday 20; and Dog & Parrot, Newcastle, on Saturday 23.

The lads will top off the tour with a homecoming gig at The Studio, in Tower Street, on Thursday, February 28, when they will be joined on stage by local group Gallops.

Jon added: “We are really excited and looking forward to it.

“Our major worry is what we will do if the car breaks down.

“We just want to play gigs in different places to Hartlepool.

“Hartlepool is great, but we feel we have done all we can in the last four years.”
