Man airlifted to hospital after choking incident at Hartlepool Marina

A man is in a critical condition after being airlifted to hospital.

Great North Air Ambulance was called to Hartlepool Marina following reports of a man choking.

On arrival on scene the Aircrew Doctor and paramedic team assessed and treated a male before anesthetising him on scene and transporting him to hospital.

The North East Ambulance Service was also called to help the man, aged between 61 and 70, at 12.20pm today.

He was taken to The James Cook University Hospital, in Middlesbrough and is thought to be in a critical and life-threatening state.
