Man jailed after stealing bacon from Home Bargains

The following people were dealt with at Hartlepool Magistrates' Court on Thursday, March 24:

Steven William James Fluen, 31, of Brafferton Street, Hartlepool, pleaded guilty to assault. He had originally entered a not guilty plea.

A community order was made stating he must complete 200 hours of unpaid work within the next 12 months. He was also ordered to pay £100 compensation, a £60 victim surcharge and £300 Crown Prosecution Service costs.

He also pleaded guilty to damaging a Samsung Galaxy S mobile phone of unknown value. The same community order applies and he had to pay £50 compensation.

Fluen also pleaded guilty to damaging a Samsung GTE 12001 mobile phone to an unknown value. The same community order replies and he had to pay £10 compensation.

David Fullard, 35, of no fixed abode was jailed for seven days for stealing bacon, alcohol and coffee worth £15.65 from Home Bargains. He pleaded guilty and had to repay the amount in compensation.

He also pleaded guilty to stealing bacon, gammon and alcohol worth £9.66 from the shop, and admitted committing the thefts while subject to a conditional discharge.
