CABBIE John Rogers will be placing his Miles for Men medal on his sister’s grave.
The town taxi driver who was crowned UK Cabbie of the Year in May for his fundraising efforts, took part in the run with cancer survivor Josh Dawson, seven, and Lewis Sanderson, 10.
It was a poignant day for John, 47, from Seaton Carew, as he ran with a picture on his T-shirt showing his sister, Jane Rogers, 50, who died just five days after being struck down with a brain tumour, in January.
John, married to Joanne, 42, and dad to Lilli-Jo, seven, is a family friend of Josh and his mum Michaela, who was diagnosed with breast cancer last month – after helping Josh through his own cancer battle.
John said: “The medal is for my sister and I will be putting it on her grave.”
He added: “Without charity there is no research and without research there is no cure.
“Donate what you can.”
