A SCHOOL is among an elite group to have been congratulated for its latest results by a Government Minister.
Schools Minister David Laws has written to St William’s RCVA Primary School, in Trimdon Village, to praise staff on their achievements in the latest Key Stage 2 tests.
Mr Laws congratulated the school for achieving 100 per cent results in Level 4 achievement in English and maths, the English progress measure and the maths progress measure.
It is the only school in Hartlepool and East Durham to achieve the milestone.
The latest results last month saw the school ranked at the top of the table in East Durham for pupils achieving the Government’s benchmark level in maths and English.
It was also ranked fifth out of 241 primary schools run by Durham County Council for pupil achievements in both subjects at the age of 11.
Mr Laws said: “I would like to congratulate all staff, governors and pupils for their hard work and success and to thank the head for the leadership in continuing the drive towards the highest standards of educational achievement.”
School chiefs say they are delighted to receive such recognition and it is the result of hard work by staff and pupils.
Headteacher Kate Ellis said: “We were very pleased to get a letter from David Laws, the Schools Minister, to congratulate the school on its achievement.
“At St William’s, as in many other schools, staff work exceptionally hard to provide the best educational opportunities for the children in our care and the children rise to this.
“To achieve such wonderful results makes the whole school community very proud.
“To receive this letter in recognition of that hard work and achievement is an added bonus – rightly deserved and gratefully received!”
